Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a winter holiday filled with food, fun, family, and maybe a bit of (re)freshment!
As we mentioned in the last post, Roxue shut down for the holidays from December 21 through January 5. The intention is that this will be an ongoing annual tradition, so hopefully customers will understand. During our closures, shop orders will not be monitored or fulfilled, nor will there be any work done for commissions.
The weather has finally turned into the proper winter everyone was expecting. Since the shop is still in a mess of construction and without heat, there has been limited work performed during the last month. However, this does not mean we haven’t been busy!
We’ve been spending our time and attention on the studio website and making major overhauls. There’s been some substantial drafting and updates to our policies. A dedicated policies page will be put up soon (by the end of January) to consolidate all the information for ease of site navigation. It’s of course all the boring stuff no one wants to read, such as privacy, cookies, terms of use, and so forth. But, for the sake of transparency, we want to make sure those who are concerned about these issues have access and can read them at their convenience. This upcoming weekend and into next week, our area will be experiencing a severe cold snap (as in, single and negative digits!) so it will not be safe to do work in the studio. So, we won’t! That being said, we will be working on more designs and refining our techniques for some handmade chains (no solder required), which can be done in the comfort of a warm home. We intend to offer customers the option of purchasing a custom-length handmade chain for some of our pendant designs in lieu of commercially manufactured chains (which we will still have on hand). Handmade chains are a labor of love, so they may not be for everyone, but we think it’s worth extending the offer. So, please keep a lookout for updates on that topic.
Additionally, we are working on more content to fill our website, specifically more informative and educational articles. While having a monthly studio article is fine and helps customers know what we’re doing (or not doing), we want to offer more. We believe in educating our customers and empowering them to make sound decisions, even if it’s just about jewelry. So, we are committed to becoming a resource in that respect. We have a great article about sterling silver in the works and are hoping to get that polished up and ready for release within the next one to two months. We are also considering a series that focuses on gemstones, with a new article released every time we incorporate new stones into our design collections. In fact, we have an article in rough draft form right now, but it might be closer to the middle of spring before that one will be published. We have a lot of ideas for educational articles and are excited to get them out! If there is a topic you would like us to cover, feel free to reach out as we would love new ideas.
