Welcome to the latest studio report!
Last month, we took a 30,000-foot view of the current geopolitical climate and looming policy decisions that could affect us here at Roxue, even though we’re small potatoes. While there was an initial pause, it seems that tariffs are in full force and the cost of goods and materials will be affected. While we’re not anticipating new purchases any time soon, it will be a factor in the future and unfortunately will affect our costs and offers to customers. We will do what we can to purchase responsibly minimize the burden. While tariffs are in place, we will be reviewing its impact with respect to sourcing materials for future collection designs, and see what kind of creative alternatives we can do to work around any procurement challenges.
In other news, spring is on our doorstep and the weather has been pleasantly mild! So much so, in fact, that we managed to spend some quality time in the shop and play around. The results need a bit of a spit shine, but we’re optimistic enough to say this — keep a lookout for an update on new products soon!
Insulation has not been acquired yet, and the weather is dicey enough in the spring to know that we’re not out of the woods yet with respect to cold weather. It’s still on the list though; promise! Moving forward, as the days grow longer and warmer, we plan to get out into the studio on a more consistent schedule and get some finished work posted in the shop for customers to check out. It’s hard to sell anything when you have nothing to offer, right?
For those of you wanting more information, we are working on setting up a newsletter that will not only notify you of new posts, but give more inside details on production and new pieces as they are listed. We’ll place the sign up below – and no pressure if you’re not interested. It might still take a bit to get the newsletter up and going, so we would ask for your patience. If you do sign up, be sure to check your spam filter and mark us as safe if we end up there. Doing that helps authenticate our domain and your email provider will take us more seriously as a legitimate sender and not block our newsletter.
Lastly, we want to announce that the shop and studio are going to be closed Friday, March 21.
That’s all for now, thanks for reading. Until next time!
